Window media player 11 validate your copy windows

First, a disclaimer: the process described is for trouble-shooting purposes only. You should contact Microsoft to give them well-deserved grief if legitimately-licensed software does not properly validate.

Believe me two years is a good age for an XP install about fourteen measured in dog years. The reason? Download and Install: you can download version 11 from the Microsoft web site, or launch your existing version of WMP 9 or 10 and from the Tools menu, select Check for Updates. Launch the new version of Windows Media Player and click the Validate button. It will fail, but the player will still work.

Once you do this, you will see a folder called wmpwindowsxp-xenu. Go into the folder and now we will manually run the two files needed for Windows Media Player 11 to install.

This will in turn install Windows Media Player 11 and will bypass the activation part of the installer. Once you finish the install, reboot and you should now have a working Windows Media Player 11 that will not require activation and in turn allow you to install on a non-activated XP install. If you failed the WGA validation when installing Windows Media Player 11, you will get the following error message: Setup cannot continue One or more of the following problem has occurred during Setup. Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Setup was unable to validate that your copy of Windows is genuine.

Download WMP11 from the Microsoft website stated above. You can right click on the setup file and choose any Extract option or launch the extraction utility and choose the WMP11 setup file to extract it.

Download legitlib. Copy the extracted legitlib. Overwrite any existing file.
