Bloody Valentine is a little book full of short stories relating to romance in the Blue Bloods universe. I meant to read this years ago, but it disappeared into the depths of my book shelf. I finally found it the other day, and I decided I might as well read it. I'm sure, somewhere, I have the remaining books of the Blue Bloods I meant to years The short stories were cute, but I don't remember half of what happened in the Blue Bloods universe.

With that being said, I wouldn't recommend reading this book outside of the series. Make sure you are reading the series so you understand everything that is happening.

I did a little research on Goodreads to review what had been happening in the series so far, but it would make way more sense to read it within the series. Oliver, Allegra and Schuyler's stories were adorable and sweet, and I think this is a great addition to the series. I'd like more sweet stories like this for other series as well!! Overall, it was cute and I enjoyed it. It's definitely just some YA side stories so it's not a must read for me by any means.

If you're into the Blue Bloods, this is for you. It's vampires, ooey gooey romance, excessive drama, and lots of gossip! What else can you ask for from a YA board school-esque story? It's like Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries had a baby. Three out of five stars. May 26, Kamela Mullins rated it liked it. In Bloody Valentine, bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz offers readers a new story about the love lives of their favorite vamps - the passion and heartache, the hope and devastation, the lust and longing.

Combined with all the glitz, glamour, and mystery fans have come to expect, this is sure to be another huge hit in the Blue Bloods series. Sep 16, Heather rated it it was ok Shelves: e-books , barnes-e-books. I thought of this book more as just a waster of time. Although I enjoyed knowing more about Allegra we were left with more unanswered questions. Why tell us she knew what would happen and chose a diffrent fate but not explain how she wound up on the same path. I think that the simplness of it was great but I think the fact that it was such a huge moment for them that was summed up in a short story without anything leading up to it I thought of this book more as just a waster of time.

I think that the simplness of it was great but I think the fact that it was such a huge moment for them that was summed up in a short story without anything leading up to it or following it made it wasteful. I would have liked it if it was included in a book that actually continued with the series.

Why do we keep getting these little teaser stories? I guess im just disappointed in what is going on with this series. View 1 comment. Jan 27, Suzzie rated it really liked it. First off: the mention of Freya and Ingrid seriously made me miss Witches of East End my husband and I even got into the show!

This series of short stories is fun to read but I did not like the second one kind of cut off. My quick and simple overall: good and fun but now I am ready to start Lost in Paradise! Mar 11, Catherine Pratt rated it it was amazing. I loved this book!! Melissa De La Cruze is one of my all time favorite author. This book was a fun read but I got a little confused. That means I need to read the Blue Blood series again just to understand it more clearly.

It's a good book, I really could not put it down. Jul 18, MaryJane rated it it was ok Shelves: Bloody Valentine delivers where Keys to the Repository was lacking. Actual novellas about some of my faves!!

Novellas to fill in the blanks and give me more of what I was missing from the stories!!! The Oliver centered novella explains how he will be able to move on from Schyler.

To put it simply I think this could have been handled in a much better way. This one was actually pretty cute. Explained a lot about Allegra, but the ending made absolutely no sense in terms of the actual series.

Left me with more questions than answers. It was supposed to be so cute and great and this was literally the only one I was looking forward too and we had to go and add unnecessary plot? At least the first two added something even if they were annoying?? Basically I just wish all these novellas were delivered differently. Dec 27, Heidi McLaughlin rated it it was amazing. It took me just over an hour to read the book because it's that good. From the first page with Oliver battling his inner demon to the last which I won't spoil , I just couldn't put it down.

In Bloody Valentine, the author introduces us to a new character: Freya. Right away, I knew I'd like her which just increases my anticipation for th I have been on pins and needles waiting for Bloody Valentine, the current installment of Melissa de la Cruz hit series Blue Bloods.

Right away, I knew I'd like her which just increases my anticipation for the release of The Witches of East End which comes out in the June 21, Back for some added dimension are Allegra and Charles mixed with a little Bendix Chase, who happens to be Schuyler's father. We'll also go to Endicott College, where Allegra falls in love and performs a Sacred Kiss that allows her to see what her life will be like. Of course, this portion of the novel isn't complete without Cordelia. We're given a very compelling glimpse into the twins' cycle mother Finally, Jack and Schuyler!

Two of my favorite couples in the literary world are finally headed for a major commitment, but I'll let you read the book to see how it all plays out. I promise it won't disappoint! Also, be sure to check out www. Apr 09, Isabella rated it it was amazing. Actual rating: 4.

Mar 26, Marija rated it liked it Shelves: ya-mg , fantasy-sci-fi. Why do I like this book and for that matter this series? This book is the same… lousy title, over the top and unnecessary melodrama, some cringeworthy scenes, and cheesy illustrations. Yet after finishing the three stori Why do I like this book and for that matter this series? Yet after finishing the three stories that make up this tiny book, I had a traitorous half-grin on my face. What a bitch. If de la Cruz edited out some of that superfluous drama, these stories could have easily been included in the series proper or at least have been present in her Keys to the Repository file guide.

But after that, the writing loses momentum, focusing on unnecessary details that left strange images in my mind's eye. As is, it does offer some explanations, but I think the story could have been handled much better. Tomasia seemed to have more substance. What a whiny puppy! Though I did foresee something like this when de la Cruz changed her story in Keys , i. The third story is the promised Jack and Schuyler bonding ceremony. I understand why she includes these sequences—due to the final reveal at the end—but for me it just kills the story.

The illustrations—which only appear here—are fine, but when I first noticed them in my initial flip through, I just cringed Do I really understand how this bonding was possible given the vampire mythology de la Cruz provides?

Yet, hell, I found myself loving that sappy conclusion. Oct 08, Parvathy rated it liked it Recommends it for: Blue Bloods series fans. Shelves: broken-characters , young-adult , vampires-everywhere. It was necessity that made me read this book. I am not much of a fan of book that are not the next in the series or a spin off but something in between.

But this series is so complicated that it is very difficult to keep track of all the things that happened. Since I am planning on reading Lost in Time the next in the Blue Blood series soon and have no detailed recollection of the things that happened in the previous books I decided to give this one try hoping for a little memory jolt.
